So as a way of an apology and to get your crafty thoughts into a frenzy and onto paper, wood, fabric whatever takes your fancy I would like to challenge you to come up with a gorgeous project depicting autumn, use whatever materials you like but stick to the colour pallette below, and now that we have darker nights creeping in you have until the end of October to enter and the winners will be announced on Halloween (enter spooky, creepy laugh here)!!!

You can upload your entries here or leave a link to your blog and I will lift your photo and put it on here, you can bring your project to the shop and I will take a photo of it and upload it to here or you can email me a photo (simply-create@btconnect.com) and I will upload to here too!!! The challenge is open to everyone no matter where in the world you are. So spread the word, the more the merrier as autumn is my favourite season, I am really looking forward to see what you come up with, so let your imagination and creativeness flow. Each entry will be numbered as they are made and then numbers will be placed in a cauldron and the first customer of the day on Halloween will pick the winner!

And now for the exciting bit, the prize......you could be the lucky winner of a Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine and some dies, embossing folders and sizzlits to get you started.

The madness has taken over, we had such a laugh and the amount of people who stopped to stare and take in the goings on was brilliant, from farmers tipping their caps to toddlers waving from their buggies, we had an audience whilst window and Carole dressing!!!!

Samantha the witch(anyone else remember Bewitched with the wiggly nose?) (above) just experienced some turbulence me thinks! This is a work in progress but I couldn't wait to share the spooky goings on with you all!!!

Loads more to come, as contrary to the rumours Simply Create is NOT closing down, I am moving to Crieff in Perthshire and hope to open Simply Create Part II in the future so continue to watch this space....................

Spooktastic Creations!!!

Well the crafters of tomorrow were hard at work today creating some great wall/door art this morning, all of the girls worked really hard and their creative juices were overflowing, I had a great morning, only wish every morning could be spent with all these special girls ranging from age 5 to 12, who knows one day one of them might be running Simply Create!

The photos don't do these justice, this headless horseman from Molly comes complete with red poisonous bats and spiders topped up with a cauldron full of poison!!!

Best friends Lucy and Emma created the next two plaques, complete with cats with "bat" ties on their scary cats which were attached by wire springs so they jiggle when you open the door, funky 3d bats and loads of sparkle made these just stunning, well done girlies, brilliant ideas might have to borrow them!

How cute is Erin's purple cat with googley eyes? Sparkles spider and swooping scary bats, such a wee tootie but so very happy to just work away and this is totally all her own work, not once did she ask for help!!!

Stephanie blew me away today, so many cool ideas, what you can't see is all of the bones that Stephanie painstakingly 3d'd onto her skeleton and then the fog surrounding her house wasn't quite working out until we came up with ripping up angel hair and wow!!!!

Natalies brilliant ideas, bats on springs, popping out of frames, fog, cauldrons of posion and you might just make out the witch flying over the top of the frame, absolutely superb....

Thank you girls for all of the cool ideas and the super morning, can't wait until the next one now! (Apologies that I was later posting) x

Confessions of a Bad Blogger!

Apologies for being MIA! There have been a lot of changes over the last month or so in Simply Create and this has taken it's toll on everything, especially the time that should be spent doing all things IT (the one job where even the mountain of ironing looks more attractive)!!! I have also managed a wee break to recharge the batteries so am fully charged and ready to go, once again....

Sorry had to share the Bay of Angels in Nice, aaaah lovely!

So the shop has been transformed by the lovely Lesley and Linda, the workshops are well on their way to being actually prepared before the launch of the list (coming very shortly), we have new tutors and old with loads of new and regular classes to tempt you with along with loads of gorgeous new stock that has been arriving by the box load!

A bevy of beautiful beads have arrived to be followed very shortly by all of the tools and findings you could wish for, and there are two groups of avid beaders which meet every week to learn new techniques, share designs and follow projects with Aileen at their side for advice and guidance, so if you would like to join them then you would be more than welcome!

Kara is back with us, tempting us with all things Stampin' Up!, so if you would like to take a look at the new catalogue you can take a peek in the shop, (and you can always leave an order with me to pass onto her if you like too) or if you would like to sign up for one of her classes you'd best be quick as spaces are filling up quickly! (Dates on the sidebar).

Carole of Floral Finesse has been so busy over the last few weeks with weddings and gorgeous floral arrangements, have managed to treat myself to some gorgeous fresh flowers (well if I don't treat myself then noone else will, sadly)! She always has a gorgeous assortment of flowers every week which prove too hard to resist, so if you are like me and have to treat yourself then pop in on a Thursday or Friday and have a wee look!

Kirsti's canvas class this week was sold out but if you would like to try your hand at using loads of different mediums and get some fab ideas for using up some of your bits and pieces you have left over from other projects, sign up for the next one which is a winter themed canvas and then throughout 2012 we will complete the set with the other seasons so one (or four)not to be missed! A LAYOUT FROM ME...

Hi girls...after seeing all Sonja's LOs lately she has put me to shame as I wouldn't actually like to say when the last time was that I completed a LO...we have also made a stash busting/finish online classes and UFOs pact so hopefully this will be the first of many and if I write it down for all to see it will have to be won't it...lol...

This is a pic that was in a post a couple of weeks ago when we went geocaching for the first time...
I started of with the plain cardstock which I sprayed with various inks..some places better than others...and oops I have just remembered that I used a sketch that Sonja had used earlier in the week which can be found below...

I cut out one of the big daisy like flowers from the pattern papers(Glitz Afternoon Muse Floral) and cut down into the petals and inked with Vintage Photo distress ink then added some glossy accents to the centre and filled with seed beads...

Family Fun is done with some chipboard letters painted with hazelnut paint dabber and coated with crackle accent and fun (from the Lost & Found Union Square Perfect stamps) is stamped in Timber Brown stazon...

Before inking I laid out the ribbon creating a mask and then used the 2 ribbons to tie the buttons and cut out a couple of leaves from the floral paper...

Found this giant tag in my stash box(along with 4 more) so I decided to do a little hidden journaling and finished it of with the last of the ribbons...

SUMMER FUN BY KIRSTI

Today we have a lovely Summer canvas by Kirsti...if only the weather was so inspiring...lol...

Well here is my very late offering for this month's design team kit...sorry it took so long and all that....

I started with a blank canvasboard and added some dressmaking pattern using ModPodge(don't worry about the creases and crinkles too much, it just adds to the texture of the background) and then coloured it in green and blue paint....

I was going to cut the bunting flags(Glitz-Afternoon Muse Banner) from the 12x12 out individually until I realised that if I cut out just that bit of it fitted perfectly onto the canvas and I love the way the paper blends in with the painted background..I did cut round the bottom row and crumpled them a bit tho for a bit more of a layered look....

I used various stamps from the DT set of Lost and Found(Union Square 'Perfect') and a couple of Stampin Up rollers which I like as you don't get the whole image just bits of it to add interest to the background....I also splattered some Stampin Up All Purpose Ink in Frost White using a paintbrush...

I made various flowers which were duly crumpled and inked using cardstock and added buttons and ribbon and pearls for the centres and hand drew the stalks and leaves...I almost forgot I did the very bottom of the canvas with Ranger Distress Crackle Paint in Antique Linen and then added some more lovely shimmery ink from Stampin Up for some added shine..

I cut out the word SUMMER using Tim Holtz Vintage Market Die and added a few little drops of shimmer ink to that to...

Sarah has definitely been busy with her kit as you can see below...she has created some wonderful projects...

I have been tinkering with the kit on and off for a few weeks now but i have had so many distractions with ill or recovering family members that my mojo went out the window. Anyway, i am finally happy and done with my projects. Hope you don't mind but i used some of my own staples like flowers, pearls, CS etc.

Project 1:

Frame...Additional to the kit is a Websters download coloured with promarkers to match the kit, tissue paper for my flowers and pearls.

Project 2:

Rachel LO...Additional to the kit. A journal tag, paper flowers, bling, CS.

Next i made a couple of cards. I started by making a bunch of flowers. Draw a basic shape of 4 petals. Use patterned paper or plain CS that can be coloured with promarkers. You need 2 per flower. Stick them together and screw them up. Leave as they are or add button centres.

Project 3:

Thank you card...Additional to kit. Pearls and alpha stickers

Project 4:

Happy Times Card...Additional to the kit. Journal Tag. he stamped girl is a hero arts stamp from another simply create kit.

LAST PROJECT FROM KAT

Today is the last project from Kat...Lovely don't you think??

Hi Jacqui and teamies.

At last I've made something with the last kit. I think you'll all think I'm very slow cos it's taken me all day to make this and then I needed to charge my phone battery before I could upload the photo!!

Sorry it's not a very good photo I've managed to cut off the top of the bow. Do you think it's a bit over the top? I seem to have ended up with a lot of bits on it!

I painted the frame in some of that lovely Annie Sloan chalk paint and then stamped over the top of it using Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and a Hero Arts background stamp - Envelope Pattern. Think I'd have been better using a little stamp.....I had to hide some dodgy looking bits!

I stamped the little birdie straight onto the paper and ribbon and then onto paper which I coloured with Promarkers, cut out and then popped it up on sticky pads for some dimension. I pinched Kath's idea of a branch in the corner that she used on her canvas at her Papeterie class. Thanks Kath for the inspiration. I didn't have a die cut branch or even a suitable branch but I found a branch in a Hero Arts Christmas set and stamped it twice, coloured it and cut it out.

I added button "flowers", dressed of course. I think the rest is self explanatory. The blank frame was part of my kit. The other side said Spring but I thought this side was more useful so I could write "My craft space" on it and have it in my craft area.

I'm a bit embarrassed to show this since everyone else has made such beautiful cards, canvases and frames. I'm hoping to get some cards made in the next day or two.

I think you will all agree that it's fabulous!!!

Here is one last project from Tina...

Dear Jacqui and teamies

It has been great to be on this Design Team I have thoroughly enjoyed it - so sad it has come to an end....

Here is another project just completed with our last DT kit using the canvas board. Hope you like it!

I used a mask to create a random flower background using TH distress ink. I then overstamped this with a Hero Arts cling stamp: Antique Background in TH distress ink. I then used my Cricut to cut out the Thank you and with a shadow background with the papers from the kit. I also used the papers to cut a number of butterflies. I finished off with some gem flowers and dew drops.

I hope we will all keep in regular contact (I don't know how this "our team" blog will be up and running but it would be nice to touch base every now and again!)

Busy Day....

Busy day again today, loads happening and not enough time to get it all done, need a clone to leave in Alford, whilst I head to Kongsberg to sort out our little apartment for the last time (so sad).....

Carole has buttonholes on her mind this week, after what sounded like the most idylllic wedding last weekend, her order book is bulging, which is excellent news. Check out the gorgeous cupcakesque arrangement - stunning roses so unusual and pretty!

Forgot to tell you that we have a five week beading course starting on the 5th of July at 6:30pm, so if you fancy booking your place give us a call on 01975564010.

CAROL'S CANVAS...

Here we have a stunning canvas from Carol...

Life's just got in the way this last month so apologies for not joining in. Finally got kit out a couple of days ago, that's when i finally found it. Had put it away in a safe place, everything topsy turvy at the mo while my new kitchen is being put in. Seems to be going on for ever and still not finished.

Mr Mojo had completely left me over the last month and when i looked at the canvas, I hadn't a clue what to do with it. Hope you don't mind Jackie but used this image as i thought she oozed with Summer days and that's how I interpreted the papers. Used this image on my DT call card so rather appropriate for my final call. Off to make some cards with the rest of the papers.

Here is a lovely couple of cards from Jane today...Enjoy....x

Couple of cards I got finished today.....The first one I used the lovely butterfly stamp with my rich cocoa memento inkpad....a scrap of the paper....little piece of ribbon and a button.
The second one I used the last of the tulle with one of the large buttons and a rose.....I used my MS doily punch for the edges and added a little sentiment.

The weather has finally calmed down here and we were very lucky to have no damage....apart from one of the trees over the back of our back garden....you can see them blowing in my blog post....well one of them has gone!!
We are just gearing for Jude's birthday now...she is having a few friends round on Sunday so it will be bedlam!!

Sorry not been around to blog, had a terrible bug last week which had me flat on my back and just starting to feel normal again! We had a huge order arrive yesterday filled with loads of alterable goodies and stuff to decorate and play with, will share pictures tomorrow, and we had loads of special visitors yesterday too, new tutor Karen who is cooking up loads of new classes to get your creative juices flowing and Kath popped out with a fabby new project and her class project which I will also share with you tomorrow (guess who forgot her camera yesterday - doh!). Judy was with us to share her colouring talents once again and as you can see below her cards were stunning once again, kits are available in the shop including stamps if you would like to create these for yourselves at home.

Friday had a couple of special visitors too, in the shape of Debbi and Faith And here's a litle peek at what you will be getting up to on Saturday with Debbi, not only will you be colouring images but lace, gems etc etc so you'll be putting your pro markers to much more use after Debbi has enlightened us all on just what these pens are capable of! A couple of lovely cards from Tina...

Hi Ladies

Well I was delighted to receive my kit what gorgeous papers and a lovely stamp set too! So here are a couple of cards I've made so far.......

I cut into some of the daisy flower petals and then filled the middle with seed beads and gold glamour dust with glossy accents here is a close up

My lovely stamp set had little bunting so I just had to incorporate that into the card!

Well two totally different cards and I've still to do something with the canvas board so watch this space!

Wowzer! What a fantastic hot day, and just want to wish Anne a Happy Birthday for today, hope you had a fabulous day with your family in the gorgeous sunshine!

Floral Finesse was back today and what better flowers to bring in today but sunflowers. (Can't actually believe that Carole actually found the roses that were in my wedding bouquet and equally can't believe that I forgot to buy some) - Bummer!!!!

Apologies first of all for the rubbish photo, my wee iphone doesn't have the best camera, but we have had more blanks and exciting papers and accessories arrive today, and then to put the cherry on the cake (or maybe I should say strawberry), Anne popped in with yummy strawberry tarts (which I managed to wear) but the majority of it hit the belly - yummy! Thanks again Anne for my first tart of the year!!!! and for all of the help unpacking and sorting, we don't have such a bad job really....

Today we have a beautiful card from Liz using a little bird stamp from Hero Arts ...I think you will all agree it's gorgeous...

just wanted to say

My design kit this month from Simply Create included this Hero Arts stamp 'little fancy bird'. So I fancied doing a bit of experimenting. After looking on you tube for some inspiration I decided to make my own piece of background with distress inks and embossing.

So first I heat embossed my 'happy definition' background stamp with white powder onto watercolour paper. Then I inked up 'silhouette flower' with distress inks and spritzed it with a little water.

Then I stamped, coloured and cut out the little bird and attached to the centre of my panel. Finished off by adding twine, a button and the sentiment.

I'm rather pleased with myself!

I am so excited I could crush a grape.....or maybe even a vineyard's worth of them!

So there's something a cooking in Simply Create in the backshop, a smell of burning rubber and maybe a little oil spilt whilst lubricating the cogs and wheels of my mind not to mention lots of tea and coffee over oodles of tete a tete's to boot!

My little feet are protesting at too much time on the lovely slate floor but boy it's hard on your feet, legs and back!

We had a super busy day in the shop, Carole was sooooo busy and has loads of orders to contend with over the next few days and weeks, the shop looked stunning with all the flowers in but by the end of today there were not many left but I did manage to treat myself to some of my favourites!!!! I just hid them....selfish of me I know but told you I wouldn't be able to resist.

How pretty are all of these, I am currently surrounded by a floral oasis........the smell and the colours....oh mighty me, think I'll be having a few of these gorgeous blooms for myself.....

My favourites are even here, can't resist peony roses so they will be lucky if they make it into anyone elses arrangements today as they are currently all mine.

Hope you are all going to make it today, to help me Welcome Carole from Floral Finesse to Simply Create, you best be quick or I might have bought all the flowers for myself.....

We have had a couple of deliveries, some just stocking up on the basics but two boxes have had me a little over excited and am wishing my life away now, so I can have some time, peace and quiet to play, check this little lot out.....

This stamp is going to be my favourite, so look out I have a funny feeling things could be all of a flutter very soon...

Now all we need is an extra day in the week especially dedicated to doing only what we really want to do...let me have a think....oh I will craft!

Simply Stunning Work

Check out these lovely pieces of work from Jane and Liz, from the uber talented design team. I absolutely love what they have both done with their frames and kits this month.

Liz has made a beautiful frame relecting a victorian sampler style, like the ones they made to show off their skills in the sewing department when trying to catch the eye of a certain gentleman, oh to have lived back then when work didn't get in the way of our crafty projects - ah we can dream....

Anyway Liz painted the frame with Tim Holtz picket fence distress crackle paint by Ranger, then she cut a piece of card to fit inside the frame and then had great fun choosing what to put in all the little squares, the papers are the Neighbourhood range from Crate Paper.

Jane received the same kit and frame and I love how she has put her picture frame together, again Jane started with painting her frame with white acrylic paint and then she distressed the edges of the frame and and papers with walnut stain, then Jane cut out bunting pendants from the papers and glued the pendants to some twine, she tied a big bow from the tulle and added a dressed button (Kath has educated us all not to have naked buttons), she also used her Sizzix Tattered Flower Die from Tim Holtz to cut a flower from the tulle to finish this gorgeous frame.

Today is another LO from Sonja using her Design Team Kit

Liberty Love

I'm back with my second LO from this kit using the Crate Paper Neighbourhood collection. I don't normally do pink or girly but that's as I rarely scrap me or my interests. This is another Document 2011 LO and is for February.

When I went to London in February my must do was to visit Liberty and have a look. It's a long time since I was there last minus boys and husbands and I had a great time just browsing.

The base is a strip of the Visit paper on the pink spotty side. I then used my Martha Stewart Infinity punch on strips of the Friendly paper. I used some more of the Friendly paper as borders to the main paper block and used an EK Success Punch along the bottom .

The tag behind the Garden paper was stamped on the brown ledger side of the Garden paper using a Unity Cosmo Cricket Material Girl stamp. I then journaled about my visit. I used the pink ribbon as a border for the Garden paper as it matched the punch I had used on the bottom border.

I also used one of the big buttons from Jacqui and threaded the mesh through it. Again my addition this time was the American Craft Thickers for the title and a label made by Crate Paper exclusively for Studio Calico.

MORE SPOTS AND DOTS FROM SARAH...

Loving this card from Sarah....

So last night me and DH were having heated words so i took myself into the craftroom before i was up on a murder charge. I had a little play with the stamps and created a card.

Instructions

I took a tri-fold card and randomly stamped various flowers all over it. Next i masked the flowers and coloured the background with a yellow/ orange ink pad.

Next I used the spare from the cut out flower masks to mask the background and coloured the flowers in pink. I varied the shading. Its crude but effective, and don't forget i am not a stamper.

Once the background was made i added 2 scallop edges in pink and orange, before adding a strip of orange dotted PP. I stamped a journal tag and added it to the left hand side over the spotty border. I stamped a birdcage image (from the glitz kit) and added it to the journal tag.

Next i embellished the card. I coloured a Jenni Bowlin butterfly and added it to the card. Next i stamped out about 8 large dotty flowers. I coloured them in oranges/ pinks before assembling them like Tim's grunge flowers. I glued together 2 white flowers, inked the edges and added a button. I used a hot glue gun to attach the flowers securely to the card.

I added tiny text alpha's to finish.

And there you go. I am really pleased with it.

And i managed to sneak a few dotty flowers on a LO i did for a UKS challenge last week.

What a whirl the last few days have been, never stopped and my little feet are throbbing!

Check out Dolly Dimples, isn't she just gorgeous, and we have a new date to announce and have filled the class up to way over capacity already!!!

A huge thank you to Karen for stepping into the breach on Saturday, thanks for coping with the shop for me, didn't expect to be so busy and what with the class and all was a bit stuck, so thank you so much x

Anne and I have had a brilliant day today, with cheese strings and loads of sorting and organising and for anyone who knows me, I am at my best in a guddle!

It's National Scrapbooking Day and to celebrate we have a lovey LO from Sonja...

Hi all

I have loved this new kit I have done this LO and have almost finished another already. I also got a fab frame that I have an idea for percolating in my head.I hope you're having a Happy National Scrapbooking Day wherever you are and are doing something creative and messy that makes you smile.

This LO is from my latest Simply Create DT kit and it was full of yummy Crate Neighbourhood papers. This is also a May LO for Document 2011. I'm managing the LOs fine but the pockets are another problem that I need to catch up with.We had a fabulous weekend last weekend when the schools were off. The weather held and it was better than some summer days we get. We spent three hours just playing at Haddo. I wanted to record a fab day and the papers suited the photo. The base is Vanilla cardstock. I then used Garden as the base with the brown ledger side. I then cut a smaller square of Friendly with the striped side for the photo to sit on. I also handcut the quilt side as a border from the Friendly paper.

I hand cut some of the flowers from the floral side of Garden as embellishments. I'm not big on florals on boys LOs but I think they worked well here, probably as they are funky with a hand doodled quality. The buttons are from the Neighbourhood Eclectic button set. I used a Maya Road cloud and sun chipboard shapes I had as templates to cut shapes from the papers to accent the title. I inked all the edges with Walnut Stain Distress ink. The only additions were the alphas the title is a Pink Paislee one and the little yellow alpha is Cosmo Cricket.

So pop along to see Jacqui as there is also lush new Glitz Afternoon Muse papers, Tilda fabrics and loads more in.

But can't tell you all yet but just had to do a little whoop to the world!!! Something a little fresh and different and VERY creative!!!!!

Been up to my eyes today in classes and had two lovely visitors today who we've not seen for a while and let's just hope Jenni was inspired when she left as we need to grab her talents when we can and may have another very big surprise up our sleeves - wink*wink* Jenni!!!!

Finished off the day with party invitations, another birthday party on the calendar soon - Did you know that we do kids classes and parties? Good fun, loads of crafty goodies and maybe the odd sausage roll - yummy yummy!

More class prep tonight - two words tonight - backside and gear!!!

So sometimes I get up to other projects and this year after much nagging I have been allowed to create a little dream of mine so I thought I would share it all with you....

And no it's not five burial plots - this is my new veggie patch! Only have two beds planted so far and that's maybe a good thing considering the frost there was this morning but hope that within time we can be relatively self sufficient on the veggie front!

Then there's this.........

soon to be transformed into a living area for some little feathered friends who will hopefully keep Erin my inhouse baker supplied with all the fresh eggs she will ever need!

And lastly some photos of my DH's DIY project which is near to completion (just needs hand rails), the air was more of a purple as opposed to blue whilst he was doing this, and it's a gorgeous place to sit in the morning with my first cuppa of the day or in the evening with a little glass of vino!, and the garden which is springing to life - the poor clematis plant that gave up on last year has flowers on it once again, so glad that I didn't have time last year to dig it out!

And for my next project, it's my knitted dog....

Boy oh boy, this ones not for the faint hearted baby Emmy needs her hair combed and her bunchies put in, her big black nose must be black and blue because of all the things she's bumping into, poor wee darling!

SOME CARDS FROM KIRSTI...

Today we have a few variations on the same card using the Dots n Flowers set of Hero Arts from Kirsti...

Hello hello everyone....sorry not been around for a while...been up to my eyes what with one thing and another...you know what like... I have done a few cards but not sure about them....this 1st one was for my mum's birthday back in February...I stamped the background with the smaller flowers in distress ink(I forget which colour it was)...I then punched some ancient patterned paper with the Stampin Up Scallop Punch and zig-zag stitched it to the front...the big flower was stamped onto a piece of Claudine's Sticky Back Canvas and so was the pink middle and then layered together...I added a bling from my stash to the centre and then the Happy Birthday sentiment.

This is me trying to use up some of the paper mountain that seems to have grown in my craft room over the last several years....I stamped some flourishes onto the pp and then stitched them to the kraft matt then stamped the flowers onto more patterned paper and cut them out, finished with a bit of sparkle in the middles...they are all the same I'm afraid except for the layouts....

That's me for now but now my fairs are finished for the weekend I will try something else with them...having a quiet week as last week was so manic and Allan has only been home 12 days in the last 8 weeks...Thanks for looking...Kirsti xxx

Had a little play with the stamps a few days ago. I made a little bird house treat box from a template. Should be filled with choccies but we are a choc free house at the moment.

Had a lovely box arrive yesterday (well three actually - but one of those broke all records...I'll share this later)!

This is a gorgeous layout from Christine Middlecamp who I have followed for many a year and love her work and her cute little boy! Layout is using just some of the gorgeous Neighbourhood Collection from Crate Paper. Go check out more of Chrisitines work, prepare to be inspired....

Next up is Glitz Design's Afternoon Muse, love the subtle colours and these papers just have to be picked up and touched, the kind you buy but then can't cut....

This card is from Kristii Lockart a member of the Glitz design team again someone I have followed for a long time and admired her work, I really love the pink text and floral paper from this range and the one I won't cut will be the one with the bunting - way too pretty for scissors!

Last but not least my most favourite papers, love the way these feel, the thickness and the oh so beautiful designs, it's Stella and Rose from My Minds Eye, think I'll just cover a wall with these beauties!

Top up of Hero Arts arrived too but they have been flying out of the door! Now the third box - this has to be a record......ordered at the end of October and after an around the world cruise (my assumption - as where else can it of been?), dispatched 11th November 2010, arrived 19th April 2011! The contents - well nothing too exciting apart from for the lady who ordered the patterened paper that is, kraft card/mountboard and all of that exciting stuff!!!!

Here Liz has taken a small paper mache frame and changed it into something much prettier...

into this...... I covered the frame with some DP (DCWV Linen Closet), stamped some flowers and leaves onto DP from the same range and cut out. Finished with a twine bow.

Hiya all!I know I am the last but finally I got some time to play with the 'Leaf Clusters' set that Jacqui sent last month.Where oh where does the time go? Anyway...this card design is not one that I can take credit for. I followed a video tutorial over on Hero Arts website to come up with this. You will see a great similarity between this card and Shari's :

It was nice to do some good old heat embossing and some inking with this one. I now have a lovely messy desk :))Off to go make another one to pop in my Etsy shop :)))

SOME MORE CARDS FROM KAT...

Here we have a trio of cards from Kat...

Last 3 cards

I've made an important discovery - I'm not very good with leaves! I've been trying to use some more of these lovely stamps....without much success.I used Distress Ink in Bundled Sage for this one and edged with Antique Linen. Then just finished with a flower and a pearl.

My favourite colour for this one! Leaves stamped in Dusty Concord. I added some Distress Stickles in Clear Rock Candy....pity you can't see that in the photo!

Not sure about this one at all. The background is Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet and Tumbled Glass. The large leaf is stamped on top of Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet. I originally tried this on an alcohol ink background on glossy card but the middle section of the stamp wouldn't stamp. Then it wouldn't stamp on ordinary card with a Distress Ink background. Eventually I got it stamped by placing the card on top of the stamp. The ribbon hides two black smudges as this was definitely going to be my last try!

For this one I stamped out a few flowers, gave them the watercolour treatment and cut them out. Arranged them on my card at a jaunty angle and added some gems. The sentiment is also by Hero Arts. This one is sort of similar. I randomly stamped the flowers cutting out an extra one and watercoloured them. A tag, twine and a gem finishes off. Liz x

Today we have something a little different from a card...Sonja has come up with a lovely little altered block...

Altered Block

Hi all. I have my second project with my Hero Arts stamp sets here. I originally thought about a set of blocks with the word Autumn on them but when I started work on them you really couldn't see the stamp images for the alpha so I had to go back to the drawing board. I painted the edges with Distress Crackle Paint in Vintage Photo as I wanted that end of summer beginning of the end feel for the block. For the sides I cut 2 x 2 squares of cream card and embossed them with clear embossing powder. I used a mixture of Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress ink to colour them with Walnut Stain to ink the edges. My only additions were the "These are the Days" stamp which is an American one but I haven't got the original packaging so I'm not sure whose it is maybe Technique Tuesday and Stampin' Up papers for the top and base from a mini catalogue last year, again the name escapes me but they were very nice. I stamped the leaves again in Wild Honey/Spiced Marmalade and Walnut Stain combination and hand cut them out to sit on the top of the block.

I've been trying to make some more leafy cards this evening and this is what I came up with. They're a bit samey though! I inked the whole set of stamps and stamped straight onto the card both times with Stormy Sky Distress Inks. I have some more ideas so maybe I'll get time to try them out tomorrow.

My First Leafy Card!

At last I've managed a card with the Delicate Leaf Clusters stamps. Very simple and quick. At least it was quick after a bit of thought and a wee practise. I was going to enter it in the Less is More challenge but of course it's closed now. That'll teach me to spend all morning doing housework today. I knew I should have taken a photo and entered last night.

Maybe my card's too plain but I had the stamp directly onto the card challenge on my mind when I made it. I have some other ideas so hopefully I can get something else done soon.

Spiral Bound Part I - Beading Class

We are revisiting the beading class with Aileen, where you will learn how the first of many stitches which will have you all beading away furiously with the inspiration and help of Aileen.

The first stitch we will master is called the Spiral Stitch a simple but effective stitch to learn on the first of many classes that are planned for the future. The corsages below have been made using spiral stitch. Other classes will include the Peyote Stitch, Brick Stitch, Ladder Stitch and many other techniques amongst the chattering the class will be a relaxed dip your tow in the water of beading which is guaranteed to whet your appetite for more….

I used just one branch stamp for this one and added some stickles and some white gel pen to highlight the leaves. I used a Tim Holtz text stamp and a couple of butterflies. That's it really very clean and simple! Jane

MORE CARDS FROM THE DESIGN TEAM...LIZ

Today we have a couple of gorgeous cards from Liz using Dots n Flowers...

I got the 'dots n flowers' Hero Arts stamp set, love it!For my first card I stamp the panel and the biggest flower with clear embossing ink onto white card and heat embossed with white detail powder. I then inked them up with 'victorian velvet' distress ink. I stamped the background with one of the smaller flowers using white ink. The diecut butterfly was also given the 'victorian velvet' treatment. Finished off using some seam binding, pearls and a Hero Arts sentiment.

My second card goes down a much brighter route!I stamped out the flowers and leaves with versamark black onto white card then watercoloured them. Layered up pink and green card using a daisy border punch on the top layer. Attached the flower pieces together using brads and finished off with a Hero Arts sentiment.

Today we have a lovely card from Sonja using the Delicate Leaf Cluster stamps...

I have been bogged down making wedding invites for my SIL so I finally had a play with the Hero Arts stamps last night. I actually used the same cardstock the invites are using as it has a subtle golden sheen to it and I wondered how it would look as a non wedding card base. I used an EK Success border punch I got last week when I visited the shop for the card edge.The graph background is a Glitz stamp that you can get at Simply Create. The ink is Stampin Up Basic Gray. I then used American Crafts Red Zing embossing powder for the central stamp from the Hero Arts Delicate Leaf set and inked the edges with Adirondack ink in Cranberry. The hand cut leaves are also from the Hero Arts stamp set and are the Adirondack Cranberry ink again. The sentiments are Unity stamps from my kit club sets. I used foam pads to raise the grass stamp and the leaves off the card slightly. I have another idea as well for the stamps but it's still in my head at the moment.

Hi folks, Carol here with my latest creations. Had Hero Arts Dots & Flowers stamp set this time and think they're yummy, easy to use and cutting the flowers out were a dawdle, whisked round them in no time! Made three cards and a last minute attempt at a tag.

TUESDAY DESIGN TEAM WITH JANE...

It's Tuesday and time for another Design Team creation....from Jane...

I have a few sitting about my desk, but this is the first one I have completed! These lovely stamps say clean and simple to me so that is what I have gone for with this card.
I masked off part of the card and used my olive and evergreen versacolor inkpads to stamp out a couple of the different leaves. I also used the inkpads to colour the seam binding.......which I am totally in love with... I spritzed the ribbon and scrunched it up and left it to dry on the heater to make it all lovely and crinkly...I used my extra sticky double-sided tape to hold it down.
The butterflies are coloured with the inkpads again and I have added some little gems!

IT'S DESIGN TEAM TIME...

Not had any Design Team creations for a while....all the team were sent a set of Hero Arts stamps to play with this month and here is what Tina came up with...

Hi all

Just thought I would post up my makes using the new stamp set I got sent through. Now this particular stamp set really tested me to say the least! - I've never used this type of stamp before so was a real test - but I'm hoping you likey likey and I will post them off to you Jacqui soon as I get chance to go to post office.

Card 1

For this card I used a technique I've not tried before and that is to ink up my embossing folder - I LOVE how it came out - must do that some more!

Card 2

This card took me the longest, all those squares to stamp, distress, layer, add sparkle to (well its me I "had" to!!)

Card 3

Now for this card - you can't tell (and now I'm looking at it I didn't need to do it at all) but I cut a mask oval and centered it on the card I then used the stamps like tapestry stamps to create the background. I then printed out my sentiment in Word and cut it into an oval to cover over the plain oval bit of the card - but of course didn't need to do that did I!!! Anyway that is what I've come up with - can't wait to see what my teamies come up with!

Here are some more gorgeous creations from Kat...

It's taken a long time for me to produce anything this time but last night I sat down and made myself try to make some cards. The delay is mainly due to me looking at the kit and not knowing what to do with it lol! Apart from being up to my ears in Christmas cards for a while.

I know I've said before that a kit has been a bit out of my comfort zone but this one was completely out of it so I'm sorry in advance that they're not like the gorgeous, clever creations everyone else has made. I've still got a couple of ideas to try and apologies to Kath for the "naked" button on the last one I might still take it off and "dress" it.

PARIS MINIBOOK AND SUITCASE...

Today we have some more Glitz creations....from Kirsti...

This is my creation from this month's DT kit...Sonja got hers the day before me and as soon as she showed me it I knew I was going to do a Paris minibook and I still had the mini suitcase from the last kit so thot it would make a great little set...

I painted the suitcase with black acrylic paint and then covered it (apart from the straps) with the Paris map paper which is gorgeous! I then made lots of little flowers from punches and spiral rolls...The Tim Holtz tickets are scrumpled, inked and covered with crackle accents...I wrapped the handle with the orange thread that came in the kit...took ages getting it lined up and then used some gold buff and rub that I found in Jacqui's shed at the Save the Children event she had last year - looks fab...I also did the whole of the inside of the suitcase with this...

I decided on a tag book for the inside and since I bought SCAL the other week I have been having much fun cutting out all manner of shaped...I cut one size for the background from the black cardstock and added some green too and then I cut a slightly smaller size out for the top layer...There are so many photographs I had to collage them in Picasa... Basically the book is about a trip to Paris that Allan and I went on in February 2008...I actually won it!! I was feeling sorry for myself one Saturday night and went to bed early with a Magnum Ice Lolly and my book...there was a code on the stick which you had to text in and since it was only 25p I thot I would have a go (you have to be in it to win it as they say) so imagine my surprise when I had a text back immediately saying I had won....Was so excited...I texted Allan (even tho he was downstairs) and I don't think he quite believed me til I had the email confirming I had won a weekend to either Paris, Barcelona, Reykjavik, Cannes or Rome...we chose Paris as we were allowed to fly from Aberdeen!! It also included all transport, hotel and 250.00 spending money!!!

Unfortunately I lost a lot of photos when my PC crashed and these were some of the best ones that were recovered but I really like my wee memento of this weekend and would love to go again...So that's it from me for now - I do have one sheet of cardstock and some scraps of pp left so am going to attempt a 12x12 page as well(haven't done a proper scrapbook page for ages!)...

Another batch of lovelies from the Simply Create Design Team...we have Kat today

I made this one after the previous trio. Everything I do seems to have the birdcage! Hope they're not too samey...

Then I saw Kath's cards and was inspired by what she had done. Hope she doesn't think I'm a big copycat!! Thought I'd try keeping it simple here.

Maybe I should have added some text here?

Not sure what you'll think about this one. It is a Hero Arts stamp and I did use the Glitz DP. Maybe I should have used the brighter yellow one so it's more obvious it is the Glitz paper?

I still have some scraps left but I think that's me done for this kit!

SSSSSHHHHHH! But thankfully it's not come to much and I have everything crossed that tomorrow when I open the curtains it'll all be the same, safe driving to those coming from further afield including our Debbi who has a long way to come too, hope she's bringing the wee ones with her as I could sit and make bracelets all afternoon whilst Debbi works her magic!The good news is thermals not required for the new shop as it's lovely and toastie....see you all soon

More white stuff falling from the sky.....

Nearly made it back to the safety of the house this morning without getting wet but not near enough, bleurgh more snow and the winds have been doing their best to destroy the woods where we walk every morning, mess everywhere.....

So what else should we do on a day like today? It's a crafty kind of day me thinks....hope you are all cosy and manage some time to indulge in our favourite crafty project!

Maybe you could take part in our challenge there is a £100 of stash up for grabs and with all the gorgeous new releases from CHA due to hit the shop this month and early March, who could resist????? Time is running out winner will be announced on Valentines Day!

Hi everyone...Loved these papers even if they took me out of my comfort zone! Dare I post these up as all of you have created truly wonderful creations... so here are my offerings...

The only thing I've yet to use from my kit is a stamp that's an oblong map (the wording/picture is quite small but I'm sure that is what it is!!) If I manage to think of how to use it I will post up my efforts!I have a new addition to my crafty stash and that is Bazzill Bling templates - can't stop using 'em at the moment!

I have to say this was my favourite kit so far and I adore these papers. I knew what I was going to do with them when they arrived although the snow and various celebrations have got in the way lol. So there are two LOs about my New York trip and two cards with the scraps. There is hardly anything left of the kit either.

So today we have a gorgeous card from the very talented Judy...

A little card I managed to make tonight with the new kit from Jacqui. I used a Hero Arts butterfly that I bought from Simply Create and coloured it with copics. I added a little bling and a vintage brad.Thanks Jacqui for the fabulous kit this month! Still got lots left so can't wait to create some more.

We are having a little shake up of the Design Team...hopefully over the next month or so you should see more regular posts with what the lovely Design Team gets up to with their stash...

I have started of with this one from the fabby Sarah....

This Hearts and home shadow box was originally a GRAZE health food box. I used a few of my own stamps, Tim and stampin up plus a maya road little chippie house. The rest is from the kit.

I love how it turned out. Good job i have lots of graze boxes as i want to make another and mum now wants one, lol

I think you will all agree that this is gorgeous and don't forget that most of the supplies Sarah has used in this project are available from the shop where all the Design Team creations are on display for you to see...

What a fabulous day I have had today with Anne, and wow she is going to blow you all away with her fantastic classes soon to released, I don't want to miss any of them and neither will any of you, this time I am going to sit up and pay attention so as my bottom is tucked in and my seams are straight as maybe this will be the year when I conquer my fear of the sewing machine!

So I thought there was something up in the shop the last few times I've been in over the Christmas holidays so after a thorough investigation by the landlord, he discovered the boiler had stopped working a wee pipe on the outside wall had had enough of the cold weather and gave up, I don't blame it really! But within an hour of discovery all was fiexed and when I went in today I can officially say I LOVE underfloor heating it was practically tropical!

A busy day with loads of new faces, 19 months in Alford and yet some folk never knew I was here!

Had an absolutely lovely day today, it was good to see so many happy, friendly faces.

Met with Kath and Judy and their classes are going to be an absolute treat, Kath has some fantastic ideas that she is going to blow you away with and Judy is doing something very different with her prisma pencils (the mind boggles), can't wait to see the samples.

Kath's Hero demo day promises to be a day not to be missed so hope you can make it on the 22nd.

Judy's class is on the 15th, don't forget to book your space and be inspired!
